Forex rebate calculator showing monthly cashback and effective cost per lot

A rebate is only useful if you know how much it is worth against your own trading cost. This calculator does the arithmetic: enter your monthly volume, the rebate you are offered and your spread and commission, and it shows what you get back each month and what your trading actually costs after the rebate. It works for rebates paid per lot and for rebates paid as a percentage of the spread.

The rebate you entered is larger than the trading cost. That is unusual, so check the rate and the spread against your own account before relying on the result.

Estimates only. Enter the rate shown in your own partner or rebate dashboard. The default numbers are examples, not offers.

How to Use It

  1. Lots per month. Use your real figure from the last two or three months, not what you hope to trade.
  2. Rebate type. Choose “money per lot” if your rate is quoted in dollars per lot, or “percent of the spread” if it is quoted as a share of the spread.
  3. Spread and commission. Use the averages you measured on a demo account at your trading hours. See what a spread is in forex for how to measure them.
  4. Pip value. About $10 per standard lot for USD-quoted pairs; see what a pip is and how it is valued for others.

The Formulas Behind It

  • Spread cost per lot = spread in pips × pip value.
  • Cost per lot before rebate = spread cost + commission.
  • Rebate per lot = the dollar rate, or the percentage × spread cost.
  • Cost per lot after rebate = cost before rebate − rebate.
  • Monthly rebate = lots × rebate per lot.

A Worked Example

Input Value
Lots per month 20
Spread 0.8 pip ($8 per lot)
Commission $0
Rebate $3 per lot

Cost before rebate is $8 per lot, or $160 a month. The rebate returns $3 × 20 = $60 a month ($720 a year), so the cost after rebate is $5 per lot, or $100 a month, equal to 0.5 pips. Change the rebate to 33% of the spread and the return becomes $2.64 per lot, $52.80 a month. The same trader gets different results from different rate structures, which is why you should enter your own figures.

Rates We Publish

Broker Published cashback through JFRebate Where to confirm
JustMarkets Up to $20 per lot at the maximum, on certain instruments; lower on most pairs JustMarkets review
Headway Up to 33% of the spread Headway review

These are maximums, not what every account receives. The rate for your account type and instrument is the one shown in your own rebate dashboard, and brokers can change partner terms. Use that number in the calculator.

Want to see how payments appear in practice? We publish a real rebate report from the partner area, with the account hidden. The amounts are small because the account trades small sizes, which is exactly what the calculator will show at low volume.

A realistic expectation: in the partner-area reports we publish, cashback paid works out to roughly $2 to $4 per lot on the visible accounts and about $1.89 per lot on a totals row. Start with a modest rate in the calculator, such as $2 to $3 per lot, and replace it with the figure from your own dashboard. See the report snapshots.

Three Ways a Rebate Can Be Quoted

Providers do not all express the rebate the same way, which makes offers hard to compare. The calculator above accepts all three.

How it is quoted Example What it means in money
Money per lot $3 per lot Paid on every standard lot, whatever the pair. 20 lots is $60.
Percent of the spread 30% of the spread With a 1.0 pip spread and $10 per pip, the cost is $10 per lot, so 30% is $3 per lot.
Pips per lot 0.3 pip per lot Multiply by the pip value: 0.3 × $10 = $3 on EUR/USD. On pairs with a different pip value the dollar amount is different.

Choose “USD is the quote currency” for pairs such as EUR/USD, GBP/USD or AUD/USD, where one pip on one standard lot is $10. For USD/JPY, USD/CHF or EUR/GBP the pip value moves with the price, so read it from the contract specification in your platform and type it in. We do not hard-code those figures because they change every day.

A Quick Decimal Check

Rebate figures are easy to mistype. 0.3 pip × $10 pip value is $3 per lot, so 50 lots is $150, not $1,500. If a result looks ten times larger than the amounts you see in your own rebate dashboard, check the decimal point first. For the difference between a broker’s own rebate and third-party cashback, read broker rebate vs third-party cashback.

Reading the Result

  • Cost after rebate is the figure to compare between brokers and account types.
  • Share of cost returned shows how much of your trading cost the rebate covers. A figure above 100% is unusual and means you should re-check the rate.
  • Effective cost in pips lets you compare directly with other spreads.

What This Calculator Does Not Include

Swap, slippage, deposit and withdrawal fees and currency conversion are not in the numbers, and a rebate does not change any of them. It also cannot tell you whether a strategy is profitable. For the wider picture of how rebates work, read how the JustMarkets rebate works and how IB rebates work, and compare accounts with the spread and commission calculator.

Three Traders, Same Calculator

Trader Lots a month Rebate Monthly return What it means
Casual 3 per lot Nice, but small; choose the broker on safety first
Regular 25 per lot Covers a meaningful part of a $200 monthly cost
High volume 200 33% of a $8 spread $528 A real line item that justifies tracking it closely

Figures are examples. They show why the same percentage or dollar rate can be trivial for one trader and important for another.

Check Your Rate Before You Plan Around It

  1. Open your own rebate or partner dashboard and note the rate for your account type and instrument.
  2. Confirm whether it is per lot per side, per round turn or a percentage.
  3. Run the calculator at a low, average and high volume month.
  4. Compare the result with your measured cost; if it looks too good, ask the provider.

Key Takeaways

  • Enter your own rate and averages; the defaults are examples.
  • Cost after rebate is the number to compare between accounts.
  • Rebate lowers cost but does not change swap, slippage or fees.
  • Rebates apply to new accounts opened through the partner link.

FAQ

Is the rebate paid when I lose?

Rebates are normally based on volume, so yes, it is independent of profit or loss. Check your provider’s terms.

Does a rebate change my spread?

No. Your spread and commission are set by the broker. The rebate is paid separately.

What is a good rebate rate?

It depends on the account, instrument and your cost. Compare cost after rebate, not the headline rate.

Can I use this for any broker?

Yes. The maths is the same for any rebate, as long as you enter the right rate and costs.
